U.S. News & World Report named Eastern Technical High School as the top public high school in Maryland.
The Baltimore County public high school, located at 1100 Mace Ave. in Essex, was also named 123rd nationally.
U.S. News & World Report evaluated the nation’s high schools based on weighted criteria: college readiness (weighted 30%), state assessment proficiency (20%), state assessment performance (20%), college curriculum breadth (10%), underserved student performance (10%), and graduation rate (10%).
Eastern Technical High School ranked first in the state for college readiness, fifth for college curriculum breadth, third for state assessment proficiency, fifth for state assessment performance, and first for graduation rate (tying with Walt Whitman High School, Poolesville High School, and Thomas S. Wootton High School on that last criterion).
