The school system has both ups and downs. While most of the teachers there are truly great and engage with the students sometimes you have a teacher who does not teach in an accessible way. Another fact to touch on is all the problems with the buildings, between the faulty HVAC and the bathrooms constantly being shut down, it is a hindrance on students and teachers daily. But where there is bad there is also good. I’ve always gotten great help when it comes to my accessibility issues. I also have had some truly amazing teachers and admin. So the school system has both ups and downs just like any other place

Inside of my school there were numerous acts of violence. The adults also gave the impression that it was out of control. The fighting and bullying at my school I see impact my peers daily. Students have filed multiple Title 9 forms to get silence in return. There is a clear complacency, some students need to remain in the same room as their assailants. I am not sure if there is a connection between the fighting and the school's administration. However, I am sure that we can do something in regard to safety and protecting students.

Overall Calvert county is a decent school system. It does not stick out among other schools in MD. We are a small county consisting of only 4 high schools so opportunities can be limited. Besides the limited population and resources our school system does a good job of creating good extracurricular programs such as theatre and NJROTC. The 4 high schools are quiet divided from each other due to their differing populations, it would be nice if we were a more connected community with better and more equal funding. We did just receive a new Superintendent so hopefully changes are on the horizon.
