League of Ireland team news ahead of tonight's Premier Division matches (2025)

It's a big night in the League of Ireland with all 10 Premier Division clubs in action, with another full round of games to come on Monday and Tuesday.

There's a big Dublin derby clash tonight at a sold out Richmond Park where St Patrick's Athletic and Shamrock Rovers clash towards the top of the table.

League leaders Drogheda United continue to hang tough and they host champions Shelbourne in another fascinating game at Sullivan and Lambe Park.

Both Bohemians and Cork City will be chasing a precious victory at Dalymount Park as they look to turn their respective seasons around and climb the table.

Bottom side Sligo Rovers are desperate for a win away to Waterford, who are hoping to avoid a sixth straight defeat, while Galway United will look to build on last week's win over the Bit O'Red when they host Derry City.

Bohemians v Cork City
Dalymount Park, 7.45pm
Bohs have Lys Mousset (Achilles), Liam Smith (groin) and Kian Best (ankle) back in contention for this Dalymount clash, but Alex Lacey (hamstring) remains on the sidelines as the inconsistent Gypsies chase a win. Cork City’s injury problems in attack are well known with Ruairi Keating out for the season and Seani Maguire still a number of weeks away from his return, even though he is ahead of schedule. But veteran midfielder Greg Bolger is poised to make a welcome return to the squad after his injury issues, with the Rebels looking to shake off Monday’s 4-1 loss at Shamrock Rovers

Drogheda United v Shelbourne
Sullivan & Lambe Park, 7.45pm
Drogheda are the only team to have beaten champions Shelbourne this season - a 1-0 win at Tolka Park - and the league leaders will fancy another bite at Damien Duff’s men on their own patch tonight. They will do so without Josh Thomas who remains injured, but fellow striker Douglas James-Taylor may be in contention for a return to the matchday squad. Shels’ defence has been hit of late with Paddy Barrett, Tyreke Wilson and Lewis Temple all injured, so skipper and midfield general Mark Coyle could continue to fill in at centre-back. Daniel Kelly will also miss out.

Galway United v Derry City
Eamonn Deacy Park, 7.45pm
Moses Dyer - who became a viral sensation with his stunning goals away to Bohemians recently - returns to the Galway United squad tonight after missing Saturday’s 2-1 derby win away to Sligo Rovers through suspension. Stephen Walsh came off the bench in that game despite nursing a knock, but should be available again while long-term- absentees, skipper Conor McCormack and goalkeeper Brendan Clarke, stepped up their returns by taking slots on the bench for that game. Liam Boyce is suspended for Derry City following his costly red card against Drogheda last week and veteran striker Pat Hoban remains sidelined with the hamstring injury that has dogged his season so far.

St Patrick’s Athletic v Shamrock Rovers
Richmond Park, 7.45pm
This could be a cracking game but Stephen Kenny has confirmed that St Pat’s go into it without injured trio Aidan Keena, Romal Palmer and former Rovers man Simon Power. Shamrock Rovers have revealed that Danny Mandroiu’s hamstring setback is not as serious as first feared and he should be back within two or three weeks, after limping out of Monday’s 4-1 stroll over Cork City at Tallaght Stadium. Gary O’Neill also came off in the same game but Stephen Bradley is hopeful the midfielder won’t be out for more than a couple of weeks.

Waterford v Sligo Rovers
RSC, 7.45pm
Blues boss Keith Long has no fresh injury concerns, but Matty Smith remains out. Experienced centre-back Andy Boyle could feature at some point over tonight’s game or in Monday’s Munster derby away to Cork City. Sligo Rovers - who lost 3-2 at home to Waterford on the opening weekend of the season - are rock bottom of the Premier Division and need their luck to turn. Tonight, striker Cian Kavanagh and midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes return to the fold following suspension. But Harvey Lintott and Ollie Denham are set to miss out again as they continue to recover from knocks. Wilson Waweru also remains sidelined.
