When players start a V Rising server most will want to start off with default settings, but let me tell you… this may be a mistake.

While plenty of the default settings in V Rising are fine and dandy, I’m going to admit that there are a number of very annoying aspects that I had to personally change based on my preferences and I was kind of shocked to see that V Rising doesn’t have a simple way to change these settings after you initially launch your server.

Admittedly, I’m very used to not being able to change server settings easily in other games such as Don’t Starve Together. Though many players would think that it is impossible to change game settings after launching a sever, the reality is that much like deleting, renaming or changing the password on your personal servers, players will have to access their game files in order to properly change the settings in their V Rising Server.

I tried really hard to keep our YouTube gameplay and Twitch playthrough clean without modifying any settings, this week I had to put my foot down because the inventory limitations were just too much for me to actually handle. While I know that players can simply make more chests in order to accommodate the hoards of resources they get, realistically I’m someone who struggles to organize chests and I will typically get frustrated if a Chest is filled and will simply throw that resource into a random chest.

Luckily I haven’t felt too frustrated with my inventory when running about picking up said resources, however, when I started changing my game settings, I took a quick look at other things I could change and I thought I’d share some of my favourite things to set up while also teaching you how to alter your game settings.

Now, while my main focus is going to be talking about how to change the game settings in your server that’s run on your computer, the same procedures can be taken if you host your own dedicated server. So let’s get started and let’s make V Rising much more accessible for players!

How to Change All Game Settings in V Rising - Basically Average (1)

CAN YOU CHANGE GAME SETTINGS IN YOUR CONSOLE?

A few days ago I covered all of the important Console Commands you’re going to want to know about. As I’m a player who is extremely spoiled by games like Minecraft where you can simply change all of your game settings by using /commands, I thought that you would be able to do the same in V Rising, but this is unfortunately not true. Still, I would strongly recommend that players get acquainted with the console as it is extremely useful especially if you are running a multiplayer server.

HOW DO I CHANGE MY GAME SETTINGS ON MY V RISING SERVER

The following are all the steps you have to take in order to change your game settings on your PC. Note, if you are changing files on a dedicated server, you will be able to skip the first 5 steps.

2. Next Type%appdata%into the Run program and hit Okay

3. Although players are trying to open the %appdata% file folder, this will typically open the Roaming Folder, so make sure youhead back a Folder so you are actually in AppData

4. Select theLocalLowfolder

5. Select theStunlock Studiosfolder

6. Select theVRisingfolder

7. Select theSavesfolder

8. Select theV1folder

9. Click “ServerGameSettings” and open it in Notepad versus Wordpad. Here players will be able to change any of the settings for their game, though players should note that not all settings will appear if they have not tampered with them.

10. When you have added all of the game rules you’d like to change please make sure to save the file as an “All Files” file type and name it “ServerGameSettings.json” or else the settings will not work and your server may not run. You can always fix this by remaking the file and can use

WHAT ARE ALL OF THE GAME SETTINGS I CAN CHANGE (TEMPLATE FOR GAME SETTINGS)

The following is a list of all the game settings in their raw form. Players can copy this list if they deleted their game file or if they have made a mistake when saving their game settings file. I will explain all of the settings in the header below and tell you what they all mean.

ALL GAME SETTINGS EXPLAINED

Whether players are changing game settings using the actual game or in the files, it can feel confusing, especially if you haven’t played V Rising before. In hopes of lessening your confusion, I’m going to take you through all of the settings and explain them to you so you have a better idea of what you’re changing and how much it’s going to impact your game.

Note: The values mentioned inside of this post are CaSe SeNsItIvE so please make sure to copy them exactly if you want the game files to work correctly. I would strongly recommend deleting any game settings you don’t want to change or simply adding the ones you want to change as you do not need all of the text above to change your settings.

GameModeType

Players have the option between two game mode types in V Rising, either PvP or PvE. Players can put in PVP if they want to be able to damage other players who are not in their Clan and put in PVE if they want the server to just be focused on killing mobs. This is going to be based on what kind of community you would like to host and in my opinion, both game modes are quite fun.

CastleDamageMode

The options that you have are Never, Always andTimeRestricted.

Never means that players can never deal damage to enemy Castles, Always means players can always deal damage to enemy castles and TimeRestricted means that players can only damage Castles in certain real-time frames. This is highly going to depend on what kind of PVP you want to be engaged, however, if you are playing on a PVE server, just don’t put this setting into your game file.

SiegeWeaponHealth

This setting only has to do with the Siege Golem. There are 5 settings, being VeryLow, Low, Normal, High and VeryHigh.

The following are the Health values of the Siege Weapon with the various settings:

VeryLow – 500 HP

Low – 1,000 HP

Normal – 1,500 HP

High – 2,000 HP

VeryHigh – 2,500 HP

PlayerDamageMode

There are two different forms of Player Damage players can set their game to, though if players are on a PVE server, this will be turned off automatically. The settings are AlwaysandTimeRestricted.

Always will allow players to always be able to attack other players, while TimeRestricted allows players to only damage others during certain real-time frames.

CastleHeartDamageMode

This setting allows players to choose how a Castle Heart can be Destroyed. If a Castle Heart is destroyed players will lose all of the progress they have on a castle, so it can get quite annoying in Casual playthroughs. You have three options when it comes to CastleHeartDamageMode being the following:

CanBeDestroyedOnlyWhenDecaying – Players may only destroy enemy castle hearts when the Castle Heart is in Decay, meaning when it is depleted of Blood Essence.

CanBeDestroyedByPlayers– Players may destroy enemy castle hearts using keys

CanBeSeizedOrDestroyedByPlayers – Players may destroy and seize control of enemy castle hearts using keys

PvPProtectionMode

This is a game setting that will provide players with protection for a certain amount of time when they spawn into the world. This only works upon coming into the game for the first time and players will not have any protection after this expires.

There are 5 settings for this beingDisabled,VeryShort,Short,Medium,Long and they protect the player for the following seconds.

Disabled– 0

VeryShort– 900 (15 minutes)

Short– 1800 (30 minutes)

Medium – 3600 (1 hour)

Long – 7200 (2 hours)

Players should not that these are real-life hours and not in-game hours, so if a player logs out they will still have immunity when they return even if it is on another day.

DeathContainerPermission

This is a very important game rule to set and customize for yourself based on how you want to run your server. Essentially there are three settings players can set for who can loot a dead body. The settings areAnyone,ClanMembers andOnlySelf. These settings are self-explanatory.

RelicSpawnType

This is a fairly late-game modifier that players must note. There are items called Soul Shards in the game and this setting will either make it so Soul Shards are respawnable or if the bosses that drop them can only drop them once. To not spoil you, I will make sure to write a post about this soon, however, the two options are Unique andPlentiful.

CanLootEnemyContainers

CanLootEnemyContainers is a setting that will make it either possible or impossible to loot enemy stashes, containers or Crafting Stations. The values are true andfalse.

BloodBoundEquipment

As a default, players will not drop their tools and armour when they die as it is considered Blood Bound. If players want to make the game more difficult they can turn this off (the default is true). Your values aretrue and false.

TeleportBoundItems

This is honestly a setting that I had to change because I was getting tired of not being able to teleport using waygates when I had a few resources in my inventory. I’m honestly very distractable and if I was to completely empty out my inventory, I would forget that I can’t pick up any items… so I recommend if you’re like me to make this value false. You have two optionstrue andfalse.

AllowGlobalChat

This setting allows players to use Global Chat. The values aretrueandfalse.

AllWaypointsUnlocked

DO NOT CHANGE THIS. THIS BREAKS THE GAME.

FreeCastleClaim

This will allow players to seize an enemy’s Castle with no required materials. It’s initially turned on as false as it is pretty OP, but players can tamper with it withtrueorfalse.

FreeCastleDestroy

Same as above, though this is about destroying the castle completely.

InactivityKillEnabled

This is a setting that I didn’t think would exist, but this will allow players to be killed if they are inactive for a set amount of time. It is initially turned off as it’s a bit… well, useless.

InactivityKillTimeMin

If the previous setting is turned on players will need to set this setting to set the minimum amount of seconds a player can be inactive before they are killed. The default is 3600. Do not change this value.

InactivityKillTimeMax

Similar to above, this is the maximum amount of time a player can be active before they are killed. The time is 604800 seconds, though if changed it will break the game. Do not change this value.

InactivityKillSafeTimeAddition

Similar to above, do not change this value or the game will break.

InactivityKillTimerMaxItemLevel

Surprise, this also breaks the game. Literally don’t turn on these functions, they’re dumb!

DisableDisconnectedDeadEnabled

This makes it so dead disconnected players are disabled the value is on true by default but players can set it totrueorfalse.

DisableDisconnectedDeadTimer

This is the amount of time it takes for a disconnected dead player to become disabled. This is set to 60 and cannot be changed.

InventoryStacksModifier

In my opinion, this is the most important game setting to change as it will change the number of inventory stacks you can have. You can change the values to anything between 0.25 to 5. The default is 1, but I strongly recommend changing it to 5.

DropTableModifier_General

This multiplies the number of drops that come from kills and chests. Similar to inventory you can make it between 0.25 to5. In my experience, this doesn’t need to be changed unless you want to progress faster.

DropTableModifier_Missions

This multiplies the number of drops that come from Servant Missions. You can make it between 0.25 to 5 though again, I don’t think it needs to be changed.

MaterialYieldModifier_Global

This multiplies the number of drops that come from harvesting resources. You can make it between 0.25 to 5 though again, I don’t think it needs to be changed.

BloodEssenceYieldModifier

This changes the amount of Blood Essence that can be received from defeating enemies. Players can make it between 0.25 to 5though I don’t feel like it needs to be changed.

JournalVBloodSourceUnitMaxDistance

This command actually doesn’t exist. So ignore it.

PvPVampireRespawnModifier

This changes the amount of time players will have to wait when they respawn from PVP matches. You can set it from 0 to 5, essentially being able to remove the respawn timer all together.

CastleMinimumDistanceInFloors

This setting is to change how far a player must build away from another player’s Castle Heart. The value is the number of tiles away it must be. The default is 2 but players can set it from 1to10.

ClanSize

This sets how big a Clan can be. Default is 4 players, though players can set it from1 to 50.

BloodDrainModifier

This modifies how fast a player’s Blood Drain happens. The default is 1, though players can make it between0 to 5. 0 will make it so your blood never drains.

DurabilityDrainModifier

This setting changes how much durability your Weapons, Armour and Tools will lose when they are used. The default is 1 but players can make it between 0 to 5.

GarlicAreaStrengthModifier

The following changes how fast players will gain stacks of Garlic. The default is set to 1 but players can set it between 0 to 5.

HolyAreaStrengthModifier

This multiplies the Holy element. The default is 1, but players can change it between 0 to 5.

SilverStrengthModifier

This multiplies the damage received when players carry Silver. By default, it is set to 1 but players can change it from 0 to 5.

SunDamageModifier

This affects the duration a player can stand in the sun before they take damage. 0 will make players able to stand in the sun forever. It is set to 1 by default but can be changed from 0 to 5.

CastleDecayRateModifier

This changes the rate at which the castle will deteriorate when it has run out of Blood Essence. By default, it is 1, though players can change it from 0 to 5.

CastleBloodEssenceDrainModifier

This changes how much time it takes for the Castle Heart to consume the Blood Essence. The default is 5, which is the highest, though players can change it from 0.1 to 5.Players cannot turn off Blood Essence Drain and honestly, I wouldn’t because you get so much Blood Essence.

CastleSiegeTimer

This is the amount of time a castle is considered breached when enemy players break through the outer walls. During this time, players cannot construct any new structures or walls and everything is susceptible to damage.

By default it is 420 seconds though players can change it from1 to 1800.

CastleUnderAttackTimer

This is the amount of time where a player is blocked from making walls or structures while their castle is under attack. This triggers when enemies are able to deal damage to any wall or door using explosives of siege Golums. It is by default 60 seconds though can be changed from 1 to 1800.

AnnounceSiegeWeaponSpawn

This will allow players to be notified that a Siege Golem is summoned. It is on by default but players can turn it on or off usingtrueorfalse.

ShowSiegeWeaponMapIcon

This allows players to see Siege Golems on the map. By default, it is on, but players can turn it on or off using trueorfalse.

BuildCostModifier

This raises the cost it takes to build structures. By default, it is 1, though if players want to simply build they can turn off costs with 0. Players can modify this using 0 to 10.

RecipeCostModifier

This raises the cost of crafting. By default, it is 1, though if players want to simply build they can turn off costs with 0. Players can modify this using 0 to 10.

CraftRateModifier

This is another very important game rule that I would strongly advise changing to craft items faster, especially if you’re someone who is impatient. Though we are still playing on default settings, it’s honestly annoying how long you have to wait for Crafting Stations to finish. Players can either slow down or raise the speed, but the default is one. The values players can use are 0.1 to 10.

ResearchCostModifier

This doesn’t do anything. It was meant to raise or drop the cost of Research. You can change the value from0.1 to 10, but right now it does nothing.

RefinementCostModifier

This changes the cost required to refine items. It is set to 1 by default, though it can be changed between0.1 to 10.

RefinementRateModifier

This is another very important game rule that I would strongly advise changing to Refine items faster, especially if you’re someone who is impatient. Though we are still playing on default settings, it’s honestly annoying how long you have to wait for Crafting Stations to finish. Players can either slow down or raise the speed, but the default is one. The values players can use are 0.1 to 10.

ResearchTimeModifier

This doesn’t do anything. It was meant to slow down or speed up the time of research. You can change the value from 0.1 to 10, but right now it does nothing.

DismantleResourceModifier

This is the number of resources you will get back for Dismantling objects in your base. The default is 0.75 but players can change it between0 to 1. 1 is 100% of your resources back and 0 is 0% of your resources back.

ServantConvertRateModifier

This speeds up how long it takes to Convert a Servant. The default is 1, but players can change it from0.1 to 20.

This modifies the cost it takes to repair items, the default is 1, but players can change it from 0.1 to 20.
